Blue Moon Valley is located at the eastern foot of Yulong Snow Mountain in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, in the valley north of Ganhaizi and south of Yunshanping. It is an important part of Yulong Snow Mountain Scenic Area. It is named after its crystal clear lake water and crescent shaped valley, and is also known as the real-life version of "Blue Moon Valley" due to its similarity to the "Blue Moon Valley" described by British author James Hilton in "The Lost Horizon".
Dreamy lake colors
The lake water originates from the melting water of Yulong Snow Mountain glacier. Because the water is rich in copper ions, calcium and other minerals, it appears clear Tiffany blue or emerald green on sunny days, and milky white on cloudy days, so it is called "Little Jiuzhaigou Valley Scenic and Historic Interest Area".
A fairyland against the backdrop of snow capped mountains
The valley is surrounded by the majestic Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, and the lake, forest, snow capped peaks, and meadows together form a layered oil painting with a high photography yield.
Four lakes and one river, different scenery with each step
Blue Moon Valley is not a single lake, but is composed of four main lake areas: Yuye Lake, Jingtan Lake, Blue Moon Lake, and Tingtao Lake, connected by a Baishui River, each with its own characteristics.
Four Lakes Detailed Explanation and Tourist Attractions

Jingtan Lake

Blue Moon Lake
Features: The iconic crescent shaped lake surface, with small islands in the center and white sandy beaches by the lake shore.
Tingtao Lake
