Heavenly Lake of Tianshan

Heavenly Lake of Tianshan, formerly known as "Yaochi", is a high mountain lake located in Fukang City, Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is situated under the Bogda Peak in the eastern section of the Tianshan Mountains. It is renowned for its unique snow capped mountains, lakes, and forest landscapes, and is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Xinjiang, as well as a national AAAAA level tourist attraction.

The Heavenly Lake of Tianshan Scenic Area is divided into three main parts: Da Tian Chi, Dong Xiao Tian Chi, and Xi Xiao Tian Chi, as well as surrounding snow capped mountains, forests, and meadows.
Da Tianchi
This is the core area of Tianchi Lake, with a wide and clear lake surface surrounded by mountains.
Main highlights:
Reflection of Bogda Peak: On clear days, the Bogda Peak at an altitude of 5445 meters can be clearly seen reflected on the calm lake surface, with snow peaks and blue lakes shining together.
Lakeside boardwalk: A wooden boardwalk has been built along the lake, allowing visitors to stroll and appreciate the lake and mountain scenery from different angles.
Mayashan: Located in the southwest of Tianchi, taking the cableway up the mountain can overlook the panoramic view of Tianchi and the distant snow capped mountains.
Dongxiaotianchi
Also known as "Black Dragon Pool", it is located below the Great Tianchi and is the source of the Tianchi Waterfall.
Characteristics: The pond is deep and surrounded by steep cliffs, creating a serene environment.
Main attraction: There is the famous Tianchi Waterfall here, with water flowing down from a hundred meter high cliff in a majestic manner.
Xixiaotianchi
Also known as the "Queen Mother's Foot Basin", it is located northwest of Datianchi.
Features: The pool is shaped like a full moon, with clear water and surrounded by pine trees.
Main attraction: There is the Xiwangmu Temple by the pool, where you can experience a strong Taoist cultural atmosphere.
Bogda Peak
The highest peak in the eastern section of the Tianshan Mountains, covered in snow all year round, is the background and soul of Tianchi.
Highlight: View the snow capped peaks from afar, or hike to the foot of the mountain to experience the magnificence of the snow capped mountains and glaciers.
Denggan Mountain
Located on the west side of Tianchi, it is the best location to overlook the panoramic view of Tianchi.
Highlight: The view here is wide, with a panoramic view of Tianchi and the Bogda Peak in the distance.
