The Longji Rice Terraces, located in Longsheng Various Nationalities Autonomous County, Guilin City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, are among the most beautiful rice terraces in China and a world-renowned landscape of rice cultivation. They are not merely land cultivated by farmers, but a magnificent work of art combining nature and human ingenuity.

Origin of the name: The name "Dragon's Backbone" vividly describes the terrain here. The terraced fields extend upwards along the steep mountainside, layer upon layer, like a giant dragon coiled on the mountain ridge, and the ridges of the fields are like the dragon's spine.

Longji Rice Terraces are not a single scenic spot, but rather a cluster of terraced fields in several Zhuang and Yao villages. The three main scenic areas are:

Ping'an Zhuang Village Terraces (earliest and most classic development)

Features: Early development, renowned, and well-developed tourism facilities.

Core Attractions:

Seven Stars Surrounding the Moon: Seven small hills resemble seven stars surrounding a paddy field (representing the moon), creating a delicate landscape.

Nine Dragons and Five Tigers: From the viewing platform, the ridgeline resembles nine dragons and five tigers guarding the terraces, a magnificent sight.

Jinkeng Red Yao Rice Terraces (largest and most spectacular)

Features: A settlement of the Red Yao ethnic group, the terraces are vast in scale, with bold lines, offering a more primitive feel and visual impact.

Core Attractions:

Thousand-Layer Sky Ladder: Layer upon layer of terraces rises straight into the sky, offering expansive views and ideal for watching the sunrise.

Xishan Shaole: The highest viewing platform, offering views of the sun rising in the east and illuminating the rolling terraced fields and villages.

Jinfo Peak: The highest viewpoint of the Jinkeng Terraces, and the only place accessible by cable car, offering panoramic views of the entire Jinkeng Dazhai terraced fields.

Guzhuang Village Terraces (Oldest and Most Rustic)

Features: Features ancient Zhuang villages and relatively primitive stilted houses; less crowded and quieter.

Highlights: Enjoy the ancient terraced landscape and rich Zhuang culture.
