Mount Qomolangma, or "Everest" for short, is located on the border between China's Xizang Autonomous Region and Nepal. It is the main peak of the the Himalayas and the highest mountain in the world. It is the ultimate dream in the hearts of mountaineers and one of the most famous geographical indications in the world.

Altitude: 8848.86 meters (latest data jointly released by China and Nepal in 2020).
Location: The north slope is located in Dingri County, Xizang Autonomous Region, China, and the south slope is located in Solukumbu region, Nepal.
Name meaning:
Mount Everest: In Tibetan, it means "Holy Mother" or "Goddess".
Everest: an English name in honor of George Orpheles, the director of the British Bureau of Surveying in the 19th century.

For the vast majority of tourists who are unable to climb Mount Everest, they can experience the awe inspiring summit of the world up close at the Everest Base Camp.
