Travel Tips

Sairam Lake is located in Bole City, Bortala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, China. It is the highest and largest high-altitude lake in the Tianshan Mountains and is known as the "last tear of the Atlantic".

Sairam: In Kazakh, it means "wish", and in Mongolian, it means "lake on a mountain ridge".

The Last Tear of the Atlantic: Because water vapor from the Atlantic forms precipitation here, nourishing this lake, hence the poetic name.

The color of Lake Selim varies with seasons and weather, presenting different shades such as deep blue, emerald green, and green. Especially under sunlight, the lake surface shimmers like a sapphire embedded in the Tianshan Mountains.

Four Seasons Scenery
Spring (May June): Wildflowers bloom by the lake, forming a magnificent sea of flowers such as golden lotus and wild poppies.
Summer (July August): The grassland is emerald green, and the lake water is deep blue, making it a summer resort.
Autumn (September October): The grassland is golden, and the snow capped mountains and lake water complement each other, with rich color layers.
Winter (November to April of the following year): The lake freezes over, with a thickness of up to 1 meter, forming a unique blue ice spectacle. Scenes such as ice bubbles and cracks are stunning.

Cycling/self driving around the lake: Enjoy the lake scenery from different angles along the lake road.
Hiking Adventure: There are multiple hiking routes by the lake, delving deep into grasslands and mountains.
Photography: Sunrise and sunset, starry sky and Milky Way, blue ice wonders, etc. are all excellent subjects for photography.
