Travel Tips

Shenxianju, formerly known as Tianmu Mountain, is located in Baita Town, Xianju County, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is a national scenic spot and a national 5A-level tourist attraction that has gained popularity in recent years. With its unique rhyolite landform, thrilling cliff walkways, and magnificent sea of clouds, it is known as the "First City of Misty Clouds" and "Shangri-La of Zhejiang".

The most distinctive feature of Shenxianju is that it encompasses almost every imaginable mountain wonder:

Rushing cliffs: The significant vertical drop of the mountains creates countless precipitous cliffs, providing ideal conditions for constructing suspended walkways.

Lifelike, strangely shaped peaks and rocks: The mountains and rocks within the scenic area exhibit diverse shapes, such as Guanyin Rock, Buddha Statue, and General Rock, all remarkably lifelike, as if a gathering of immortals.

Spectacular waterfalls: During periods of abundant rainfall, waterfalls cascade throughout the mountains, the most famous being Elephant Trunk Waterfall and Flying Sky Waterfall, both magnificent in their grandeur.

A perpetual sea of clouds: After rain or at dawn, a spectacular sea of clouds often appears in the valleys, with the mountain peaks appearing and disappearing within it, creating a scene reminiscent of a fairyland.

There are generally two main ways to tour the area:

North-Up, North-Down (Classic Route, Suitable for Those with Good Physical Fitness):

Uphill: Enter from the North Gate of the scenic area and take the cable car (or walk) uphill. After reaching the cable car station, you'll soon see the iconic General Rock and Sleeping Beauty Rock.

Core Tour: Follow the cliffside walkway, passing the Flying Waterfall (only visible when the water volume is high), Ruyi Bridge (the newest and most thrilling all-glass bridge), Wolong Bridge, and Yuanmeng Bridge. This is the highlight of the scenic area, offering 360-degree views of the surrounding unique peaks and rocks, such as Guanyin Peak and Lovers' Peak.

Downhill: After visiting the South Sky Bridge area, take the cable car downhill from the South Sky Cableway station, then take the scenic area shuttle bus back to the North Gate.

South-Up, North-Down (or vice versa, a more relaxed and essential tour):

Uphill: Enter from the South Gate of the scenic area and take the South Sky Cableway directly uphill.

Core Tour: After getting off the cable car, you'll soon see the famous Guanyin Peak (a naturally formed giant rock resembling Guanyin with her hands clasped in prayer). Then, visit the South Sky Bridge, Hongmeng Bridge, Lotus Terrace, etc., and finally walk to the Ruyi Bridge.

Descending the mountain: After visiting the Ruyi Bridge, you can choose to descend via the North Cableway (you will need to walk a short distance to the North Cableway Upper Station), or return via the same route to the South Cableway (which is a longer journey).
