Flame Mountain is located in the north central part of Turpan Basin in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. It is called "Chishi Mountain" in ancient books and "Kiziltag" in Uygur, meaning "Red Mountain". It is famous worldwide for its extremely high summer temperatures, red mountains, and deep connection with Journey to the West, and is one of the most famous landmarks in Turpan.
The reputation of Flame Mountain is widely attributed to the classical novel "Journey to the West".
Tang Monk's Journey to the West: In the novel, it is described that Tang Monk and his disciples went to the west to retrieve scriptures, but were blocked by the 800 mile Flame Mountain. Sun Wukong borrowed a banana fan from Princess Iron Fan San, and the fan extinguished the fire, allowing his master and disciples to continue their journey westward. This story adds a strong mythological color to the Flame Mountain.
Cultural attractions: Within the scenic area, there are huge "golden cudgel" shaped thermometers, as well as sculptures of characters from "Journey to the West" such as Sun Wukong, Princess Iron Fan, and Bull Demon King, for tourists to take photos as souvenirs.
Experience the ultimate high temperature: Experience the feeling of sweating profusely in the "Chinese Hot Pole" and see with your own eyes whether the eggs can be cooked (this experience is often available in scenic spots).
Check in the giant thermometer: Take a photo with the "Golden Hoop Rod" and record the astonishing surface temperature.
Riding a Camel: Against a red mountain background, ride a camel and experience the charm of the Silk Road.
Exploring Underground Culture: Visit the underground landscape area to learn about the Westward Journey culture and the geological origins of Flame Mountain.
Tasting grapes: If you go to Grape Valley, you can taste the sweetest grapes and various raisins in the world.
