Travel Tips

Xiangong Mountain is a peak located in Xingping Town, Yangshuo County, Guilin. Although it is not the highest peak in Yangshuo, it is widely recognized by photographers and tourists as the most beautiful place to view the panoramic view of the Li River. Climbing Xiangong Mountain, you can see the Li River making an extreme bend here, forming a typical Chinese landscape painting with the continuous karst mountains.

The First Bend of the Li River: This is the most central scenic spot of Xiangong Mountain. Standing on the mountaintop viewing platform, one can see the Li River flowing from west to east, suddenly making a sharp 90-degree turn at the foot of the mountain (forming a "U" or "Ω" shape). The river meanders, surrounded by towering peaks, creating a truly magnificent scene.

Multi-layered Landscape: In the foreground are clear river waters and fishing boats (or bamboo rafts) on the water; in the middle ground are lush forests and farmland; and in the distance are layers upon layers of karst peaks shrouded in mist, creating an exceptionally rich sense of depth.

A Photographer's Paradise
Xiangong Mountain is hailed as the No. 1 spot for landscape photography in Guilin.

Sunrise: The vast majority of tourists and photographers choose to climb the mountain at dawn to capture the sunrise. As the sun rises in the east, golden sunlight bathes the mountains, and a thin mist or morning fog rises from the river. The light filtering through the clouds creates "Christ rays" (Tyndall effect), a dreamlike spectacle.

Sea of Clouds: On mornings after rain, a spectacular sea of clouds easily forms in the valleys. The mountain peaks float like islands above the clouds, making Xiangong Mountain itself an "aerial island" for viewing the sea.

Four Seasons: Spring is adorned with rapeseed flowers, summer is lush and green, autumn is colorful, and winter is often shrouded in mist. No matter the season, you can take stunning photos here.

Best Time to Visit:

Early Morning (around sunrise): This is the golden time to visit Xiangong Mountain. You need to depart from Yangshuo or Xingping between 4-5 AM to reach the summit before sunrise and secure a good location.

After Rain: This is the best time to see the sea of clouds and mist, creating a fairyland-like scene.

Evening: Relatively fewer tourists photograph the sunset, but the soft light offers a unique charm.
