Xingping Ancient Town is located in the northeast of Yangshuo County, Guilin City, Guangxi Province, on both banks of the Li River. It is one of the oldest and best-preserved ancient towns in Yangshuo. It is not only the epitome of the Li River scenery, but also the location featured on the back of the 20 RMB note of the fifth series of banknotes, and is known as "a dazzling pearl on the Li River".

This is Xingping's most prominent landmark. Located on the banks of the Li River in front of Xingping Ancient Town, is the spot where the image on the back of the 20 RMB note was taken. Taking a photo with the landscape behind the 20 RMB note is a must-do for tourists. The best viewing spot is near "Yellow Cloth Beach".
Li River Highlights (Nine Horses Painting Mountain, Yellow Cloth Reflection)
Nine Horses Painting Mountain: A huge stone wall stands by the river, its naturally formed patterns resembling a herd of horses. You can take a bamboo raft or ferry from Xingping to the foot of the mountain to view it.
Yellow Cloth Reflection: A large yellow rock lies at the bottom of the river. When the water is calm, the green mountains on both banks are reflected in the clear water, as clear as a mirror, making it one of the most classic scenes of the Li River.
Xingping Ancient Street
A 1-kilometer-long cobblestone street lined with well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty buildings, mostly shops and residences with blue bricks, gray tiles, and wooden structures.
The street lacks the hustle and bustle of commercialization and retains the atmosphere of the original inhabitants' lives. You can browse the shops selling handicrafts and local specialties, or find a place to sit down and have a cup of tea.
